Sticking It Out Is BY FAR The Hardest Part Of Affiliate Marketing

The hardest part of affiliate marketing isn’t choosing a niche, starting a website, keyword research or finding products to promote but rather, having the outright audacity and stubborn persistence to keep putting in the work long enough to see results.

In other words, it’s about not getting impatient.

It takes time to build out content on your website.

It takes time to see Google impressions and rankings.

It takes time to build up a consistent stream of income.

And that means you have to play the long game and learn the skill of delayed gratification.

But 95% of affiliate marketers quit too soon and never experience their breakthrough.

Don’t be a statistic.

5 Hard Things About Affiliate Marketing

Go out there and try and figure everything out on your own and these are the big stumbling blocks you’ll likely encounter:

1. Choosing The Right Fit For A Niche

Follow your passion and the money will follow. I’m sure someone famous and successful once said that.

But it’s true:

Pick the wrong niche because you think that’s where the big commissions are at and you’ll likely fail.

Pick a niche you have no knowledge or interest in and you’ll bore yourself to tears and quit.

Pick a niche that’s so narrow and you’ll not have a big enough audience to make it work.

So choose a niche you’re passionate about; one that’s popular and has a ton of relevant gear you can promote.

2. Starting An Affiliate Marketing Website

Unless you have a massive social media following, starting a website is a MUST for affiliate marketing.

You don’t wanna waste your time pasting affiliate links in comment areas and forums. You’ll never make sales that way.

Spamming YouTube and Facebook with links is a big no-no too. You’ll just end up pissing a lot of people off and get your social media accounts blocked.

And while I know starting a website can seem like an arduous and difficult task, it’s really not.

Let us walk you through it and you can follow along click by click.

3. Getting Free & Targeted Traffic

Free and targeted is the best kind of traffic because it’s, well…

Free and targeted!

And the traffic sources I’m talking about are Google and YouTube.

If you’ve got a pet niche website, you want to come up when people search for “best dog toys” you want to come up because you’re almost always guaranteed to make a commission.

And the only way to do that is by creating helpful content (or hiring someone to create it for you.)

Content like:

This can be tricky if you’ve never done anything like this before but it doesn’t take long to get the hang of it.

The main thing is to just be yourself and write like you speak and recommend products in a natural way so you don’t come off as a sleazy car salesman.

4. Promoting Relevant Products People Want

There are thousands of affiliate programs you could join today with millions of products you could promote.

The hardest part isn’t finding enough products, it’s that there are TOO MANY!

While you can promote as many products as you want, you don’t want to make the mistake of recommending products your audience isn’t going to be interested in.

Neither do you want to go all-guns-blazing and join every affiliate program you come across because that’s only going to end up with you having a lack of focus.

So choose the product you want to promote wisely. Make sure they’re relevant to your niche and solve a pain point of your audience and then you’re almost guaranteed to make consistent sales.

5. Not Selling Out

This one is harder for some than for others, but it’s a biggie!

One of the traps I see many beginner affiliate marketers falling into is going for the quick buck without thinking of the longer-term consequences.

I’ve seen people become total sellouts promoting seriously bad products, not because they’re thinking they’re helpful or good quality, but because they think it’s a shortcut to riches.

I’m talking about those “miracle cures” for diabetes you see on Clickbank…

Or those “get-rich-quick scams” promising $23,413 overnight at a click of a mouse…

Don’t do it.

It’s not only unethical but it’s super dumb.

Break that trust with your audience just once and you’ll forever trash your reputation online. Nobody will believe a word you say ever again and nobody will listen to or take action on your recommendations.

So do it right and do it smart.

Build an affiliate marketing business you can be proud of, promoting products you can wholeheartedly put your name behind with the sole aim of helping as many people find what they’re looking for as you possibly can. Do that and affiliate marketing won’t be so hard at all.
