One thing a lot of people worry about when they look to get started with affiliate marketing is whether or not they’ll have the time to become successful.
After all, what’s the point in getting started with it, if you won’t be able to put aside enough time to actually start making money with it?
So, as a result, we often get asked the question, how many hours do affiliate marketers work per week?
And whilst on the surface, it may sound quite simple, there are actually quite a lot of variables that could affect the answer. For that reason, we’ve put together this blog post to answer it in-depth, once & for all.
How Many Hours Does An Affiliate Marketer Work?
The reality is there is no set amount of hours that an affiliate marketer works & ultimately, the amount of hours they work depends on what they want to achieve & their marketing methods.
It also depends on how far along in their journey they are because, after a certain period of time, affiliate marketing can become almost entirely passive.
This means that the affiliate marketer could still earn money with very little work or even no work at all.
But the more hours you can put in, the more you will get out – it’s as simple as that.
As little as 1 hour per day (or 7 hours per week) is more than enough to get started. You could quite easily build a thriving affiliate marketing business by working 7 hours per week.
And our free affiliate marketing course teaches the perfect method for getting started with affiliate marketing if you only have a small amount of time.
Of course, though, if you are only working 1 hour per day or 7 hours per week, you can’t expect to become an affiliate marketing millionaire overnight.
It could take 3-6 months before you start earning your first commissions (though they will then start coming more frequently after that).
However, if you upped that to 2 hours per day or 14 hours per week, then you can expect things to begin happening much more quickly.
And if you could do affiliate marketing full-time & invest 40+ hours per week, then you can certainly expect to get off to a flying start.
With the right training to hand, you could even start generating commissions in your very first month.
As mentioned though, it also depends on marketing methods.
If you’re only using free methods to market your affiliate links then it’s going to require more work than if you were to leverage paid methods as well.
That’s the nature of how business works – you can use money as leverage so that you don’t have to invest as much time. After all, time = money, but it also works the other way around.
But we appreciate that not everybody has money to get started with affiliate marketing & that’s why we teach both free & paid methods in our beginner affiliate marketing course.
How Many Hours Should You Work As An Affiliate?
The answer to this question is simple. If you want to build a truly thriving affiliate business, you should work as many hours as you can without impacting your mental health, physical health or relationships.
And the best part is that because you can build an affiliate marketing business based around any passion or interest, it can be fun, and it doesn’t have to feel like work at all.
In fact, many people simply pursue affiliate marketing purely as a hobby to fill up their spare time.
But the reality for most people is that if they really dig deep into their schedule, they will easily be able to find 1-2 hours they can put aside each day to work on their business.
After all, most people simply spend hours watching TV in the evening. And the average adult spends over 6 hours just playing on their mobile phones each day. 😲
So whilst you might initially think you don’t have the time, trust me, you’ll be able to find it.
And when you’re working on building a business vs watching TV or playing on your phone, you will feel so much more accomplished too.
But as mentioned, you don’t want to go overboard & work too hard. That can end up being just as bad as working too little because you can find yourself suffering from burnout.
I know because it’s happened to me and probably every other affiliate marketer at some point too.
The key is to find a happy medium – a balance where you can work on your business but also spend time with your family and friends & doing the things that you enjoy.
And the easiest way to do that is to build an affiliate marketing business around your passion. That way, you can kill 2 birds with one stone.
Can You Do Affiliate Marketing Part-Time?
Yes, absolutely. Whilst affiliate marketing can be a full-time job, you can also do it part-time if you’d like to fit it in around your current schedule.
Will you earn less by doing it part-time? No, not necessarily, it’ll just generally take you longer to start seeing your first commissions come through.
And that’s one of the beauties about affiliate marketing. When done correctly (like we teach in our training), your efforts end up being compounded.
So this means that even if you can only work 1 hour per day, your business will grow & grow & grow with each hour that you spend on it.
So you could still achieve the exact same goals as somebody who is working 40 hours per week on their business, it’s just that they’ll get there more quickly.
This brings me to the next point.
How Much Can You Make Per Week With Affiliate Marketing?
With affiliate marketing, the skys the limit in terms of how much you can earn. There is absolutely no ceiling on your weekly earnings.
You see, with a traditional job, you are paid directly in return for your time. This means that you’re limited by either:
- How much time you have
- How much your employer wants to pay you for your time
But affiliate marketing is not employment. Affiliate marketing is a real business. This means that your paid for your efforts, not your time.
So whilst you might not start instantly making money like you would if you were to start working a job, your income would compound over time & grow larger & larger.
As a result, many affiliates find themselves earning thousands of dollars or even tens of thousands of dollars per week. More than you’d ever be able to earn through a traditional job.
And even as a complete beginner, you could quite easily find yourself earning hundreds of dollars per week with affiliate marketing.
Which may raise another question…
