Today I want to talk about why done-for-you isn’t good for you and why all these done-for-you (DFY) affiliate marketing systems and sales funnels are a total hoax.
The biggest reason affiliate marketers fail to make a single dime online is that they’ve been sold on the idea that an online business can be “done for you”, which only leads to frustration and a depressing lack of results.
It’s a major, major stumbling block for many.
Maybe whilst you’ve been trying to figure out how this whole affiliate marketing thing works, you’ve come across these “autopilot systems” and “business in a box” type products where supposedly all you do is click your mouse, sit back and watch as the profits roll in.
They promise:
- Done-for-you traffic
- Done-for-you sales pages
- Done-for-you emails
And so on…
These shiny shortcuts, these get-rich-quick scams (which is really what they are) will hold you back from ever becoming rich online and I’m gonna show you why.
I’ve gone through 100s of done-for-you systems…
I mean I’ve spent hours and hours really going through them in detail, looking at how they work (or how they’re supposed to work)…
And I think I’ve finally got to the bottom of why they keep you broke. I’m serious. These phoney get rich quick scams doom you to failure.
Every.
Single.
Time.
So let’s break it down. Here’s why these done-for-you systems don’t work:
How Done-For-You Sales Funnels Are Supposed Work
Done-for-you sales funnels are touted by many as an easy way for affiliate marketing beginners to make money.
They start by sending your done-for-you traffic (i.e. visitors) to some kind of done-for-you landing or capture page where you collect their email address before sending them to a done-for-you sales page.
The whole process looks like this:
And they’ll say things like:
“Buy MY 100% proven and foolproof system and everything is done for you. You’ll get done-for-you capture pages, done-for-you sales pages, a done-for-you list of email subscribers and even done-for-you email templates…
All you have to do is spend a few minutes setting it up, send traffic through the system and you’re GUARANTEED to make money.
You don’t have to do a thing. I’ll even give you our 50 top-performing emails that have been tried and tested and PROVEN to convert.”
Buy their program, copy and paste everything over and you’ll have a plug and play way to earn autopilot profits and be laughing your way to the bank.
If only this were true! 😂
These online guru types suck you in with a ton of hype and outlandish promises of how much money you’re going to make. It’s only after you buy it that you realise the only income strategy is to promote the program you just bought to others.
So you go ahead and start spending your hard-earned cash on solo ads or whatever it is to send traffic through the system.
You go all in and start an email campaign with every done-for-you email sending people back to the sales page.
Now, on the surface, everything seems to make a lot of sense – this stuff has been proven to generate commissions and you don’t have to do anything except drive traffic.
These online gurus usually give you their traffic sources as well, so all you have to do is spend $300, $500 or $1,000 on traffic and you’ll be making a profit.
Does this sound familiar?
If you’ve come across these so-called “make money online systems”, then you know exactly what I’m talking about.
If you haven’t come across these before then good, because I’m going to show you why you’re way better off avoiding junk like this altogether! 😉
How Done-For-You Sales Funnels Really Work
While you could make a sale or two following this method (Because whoever created this system has split-tested the pages), it is highly unlikely and only possible if you spend a ton of cash trying to drive traffic.
Because here is the big problem these make money online scammers SHOULD tell you about but DON’T:
They’ve got 1,000s, 10,000s, sometimes 100,000s of affiliates all using the same done-for-you sales pages and funnels.
And there’s a lot of noise online. It looks like this:
And everyone looks exactly the same because they’re all using the same done-for-you capture pages, sales pages and emails, DFY emails. The people you’re sending through your sales funnel have likely already seen these pages many times.
They’d be nothing wrong with using done-for-you funnels if only a few people were using them, but some of these systems have 100,000s affiliates all using exactly the same done-for-you pages.
And to make things worse:
They’re all using the exact same traffic sources.
What do you think is going to happen?
People can actually do quite well when these systems first get launched, which is why you see these product launchers creating new systems every couple of weeks.
But as soon everyone starts promoting it using the exact same pages, the conversion rate DROPS dramatically:
- The capture page gets promoted to death, everyone’s seen it and stop opting in
- The sales page has been seen half a dozen times so the conversion rate plummets
- Everyone’s using the same email titles and sales script so they stop even reading them
Why?
Because there’s nothing unique about any of this. There’s no originality. At no point on any of these steps are you adding any value whatsoever.
Use done-for-you sales funnels and marketing systems and you look the same as everybody else. You’ll struggle to get conversions, which is why you’ll always see people jump from one done-for-you system after another.
For example, let’s say you sign up to one of these systems, pay $200 for solo ads and send your 200 leads to your done-for-you capture page and sales page…
Typically, a good capture page will get 50% of people’s email addresses. Out of the 100 people who then see your sales page, you’ll be lucky if you get one conversion.
If you pay $1 per lead and make a $50 commission per sale then not only are you not going to make money…
You’ve actually just lost $150.
So at first sight, this might seem like a great way to get started because you don’t have to do anything and everything’s done for you, the conversion rate is so bad that it doesn’t matter what you do.
You can drive as much traffic as possible, spend as much money on ads as you can…
But you’ll never come out on top.
You’ll always spend more than you make.
And this is exactly why done-for-you is bad for you.
Another reason you want to avoid done-for-you affiliate marketing systems is that they’re like riding a bike with training wheels and you can never take those training wheels off.
This means you never learn the skills you need to become an independent and successful entrepreneur:
- You never learn how to write product reviews that convert
- You never learn how to create a simple sales page or learn how to change it to make it your own
- You don’t know how to create your own videos to promote products
- You never learn how to create your own emails
In fact, you don’t even know anything about online marketing and so you’re stuck forever in the boom and bust cycle of done-for-you.
But because you don’t know how to do this and that, you can’t inject yourself anywhere in this process. And this is a very big problem because that’s what makes all the difference to your conversions.
And learning how to do this stuff yourself isn’t difficult.
You just need to be shown how to do it right.
There’s A Better, More Profitable Way
When you learn how to create your own capture pages, sales pages and videos and are able to inject yourself, your face, your story and your personality into the process you, all of a sudden, become unique and stand out above the noise.
I hope you can see that! If you can get this it’s going to make the difference between failing or raising the roof on how much you can earn and smashing your online income goals!
If you’ve tried affiliate marketing but haven’t yet managed to make your first sale or you can’t quite figure out how to make a growing and consistent income from it, understand that it’s not your fault.
There’s so much false information and downright bad advice out there, so many people teaching the wrong stuff.
- If you’ve spent money on courses that teach this, you know what I’m talking about
- If you’ve spent a ton of money on solo ads, Facebook ads etc., you know what I’m talking about
So now let me show you what DOES work instead.
This is the model that enabled me to make $100,000s, become a super affiliate, kiss my call centre job goodbye and book a one-way ticket to Thailand.
And this is what I want for you, whatever your income goals.
As you can see, it starts off with traffic, the lifeblood of any online business:
But instead of sending them to a done-for-you sales page directly, you start by giving people high-value upfront.
This could be a blog post or a YouTube video where you’re helping the person who subscribed to your email list learn more about your topic.
So, for example, say you’re promoting a Thai language course. Don’t send them directly the language course’s sales page, but warm them up first by giving them useful tips on how to become fluent in the Thai language. You could talk about how to use flashcards or find opportunities to practice and so on…
Does that make sense?
Instead of asking for the sale, you’re actually helping them.
This is a gamechanger because they’re like:
“Oh wow, instead of just sending me to a done-for-you sales page like everybody else, they’re actually teaching me about the thing I want to learn more about.”
It’s unique, it’s different and people let their guard down because you’re building that all-important credibility, authority, likability and trust.
You’ve now risen above the noise and stood out from the crowd
Then, what you do, at the end of every piece of content you create you say something like:
“Listen, if you found these tips helpful about learning Thai (or whatever it is you’re talking about) then check out this program that helped me speak Thai fluency (or this program that helped me get 6 pack abs or this program that taught me how to play the guitar, whatever it is), click the link below and check it out.”
Then you can send them to the sales page.
Does this mean creating a website and creating content?
Yes, but if you hate writing then you can start a YouTube channel instead.
The impact on conversion rates is absolutely staggering:
Instead of a measly 0.5% to 1%, you can expect to convert anywhere between 5% and 10%, depending on the quality of content and relevancy of the products.
But look, even if you convert at just 5%, that’s 10x more than you’d ever get with a done-for-you funnel.
This is exactly what we teach at Commission Academy.
Are you seeing the power of this? Is it making sense?
It’s not complicated, it’s actually very simple. You just need to be shown how to do it step by step.
But now you know, you no longer have to be hoodwinked by those done-for-you systems 🙂
Go ahead and let me know what you think in the comments below because nobody is talking about this.
I’m a 64-year-old lady garden fanatic, I only know the basics on a computer I enjoy designing gardens, plants have been a life-saving therapy for me, I can’t physically garden anymore so I’ve been looking into affiliate marketing how can I convert my hobby into this marketing online?

It’s so true Mwebe and it’s so easy to get sucked into the done-for-you con, but as someone once said…
“If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is!”
