One of the most common niches for new affiliates to venture into is the make money online niche.
This is likely because, at the time of discovering affiliate marketing, most people are searching for a way to make money online… So when they’re told that they need to find a niche that they’re passionate about, making money online is often the first thing that comes to mind.
But is the make-money-online niche too competitive? Or can you actually succeed as a newbie affiliate marketer in the MMO niche?
Well, if that’s what you’ve been wondering, you can rest assured that you’ve landed in the right place.
In this blog post, we’re going to explain the truth about the competitiveness of the MMO niche, why people claim it’s too competitive (or saturated) & how you can succeed in it, even as a total newbie.
So let’s dive in & start from the top.
What Is The MMO Niche?
The MMO niche, otherwise known as the make money online niche is a niche that, as you’ve probably guessed, covers anything to do with making money online.
This could include paid surveys, dropshipping, article writing & of course, affiliate marketing.
So the first thing you may be wondering is, is the MMO niche really a niche? Because after reading that above, you may be thinking that it sounds pretty broad.
And you’d be right in thinking that.
So the first thing we’d like to point out is that the MMO niche isn’t really a niche at all, despite many people thinking that it is & despite there being over 25,000 results on Google containing the phrase:
Making money online is actually just a topic. A niche would be one of the more focused things it covers, such as paid surveys or article writing.
But that aside, because many people try to enter the “MMO niche” as a whole (and because you still can succeed with it as a whole), we’ll still be focusing on that & still be calling it a niche for the purpose of this article.
So, next question;
Is The Make Money Online Niche Too Competitive?
There’s no doubt about it, the make money online niche is very competitive but it’s certainly not too competitive and, in reality, it’s actually quite an easy niche to succeed with (even as a newbie).
Now, we understand that may sound like a pretty bold claim, especially if you’ve tried to break into the MMO niche & had no success, but let us explain why.
The MMO Niche Has a Huge Turnover Rate
Sadly, most of the new affiliates venturing into the make money online niche are just looking to earn themselves a quick buck.
As a result, when they discover that it takes a little time to begin earning money with affiliate marketing they give up & ditch their websites.
So this means that whilst the competition may “appear” to be fierce, there will actually only be a very small handful of sites that see the journey through. Most will disappear in a matter of a few months & when they do, you’ll then be ahead of the competition.
And we say this is sad because whilst it may take a few weeks or months to start earning with affiliate marketing, once you do begin earning it can be totally life-changing. So it always saddens us to see people give up on their journey just because they didn’t start earning right away.
The good news on this front, however, is that providing you do stick with it & do see it through, you’re almost guaranteed to succeed.
Most People Are Too Focused on Money
The people that enter the MMO niche enter it because they claim that they are very passionate about making money online & whilst this can be a good thing, it can also be a big downfall.
You see, in order to succeed with affiliate marketing, you need to be able to put giving value at the forefront of everything you do & put making money to the back.
However, people who are “passionate” about making money often have a hard time with this.
Instead, they do everything with the intent of making money & this leads to their websites being too focused on promotions.
In short, their websites just end up looking like spam sites & as a result, the search engines (like Google) don’t bother ranking them so they never get any traffic & never make any sales.
So as you’ve probably guessed, these folks also end up shutting their sites down as well (and proceed to claim that affiliate marketing is just a scam).
There Are Endless Promotional Avenues You Can Go Down
Sure, the “make money online” keyword may be pretty darn competitive (though we did rank for it on page 1 for a good few years)… But the make money online niche isn’t competitive.
And the reason for that is that there are so many different promotional avenues that you can go down.
For example, there are, on average, over 10+ new MMO products launched every single day. This means that even if you only focused on launch jacking, you could quite easily start generating traffic as many of the terms have zero (yes, ZERO) competition.
And there are so, so many different keywords in general that people are searching related to making money online, many of which are still completely untapped.

Can You Succeed In The MMO Niche As a Newbie?
Time & time again we see experienced affiliate marketers telling newbies that the MMO niche is too competitive & that they should stay away from it.
But is it really true?
In short, no, it’s not. As a newbie to affiliate marketing, you can most certainly succeed in the make money online niche, providing you follow the right training.
In the same breath, however, we generally don’t recommend entering the MMO niche as your first niche.
And the reason we say that is simple. It’s not because you won’t succeed, it’s just because there’s likely something in life that you’re much more passionate about.
The most vital component for your success is to go with a niche that you’re truly passionate about because that way working on your business doesn’t feel like work & you’ll enjoy growing your business.
In fact, if you’re like us, you’ll literally get excited about waking up to “work”. As you can imagine, when you’re excited to work, your business grows a lot faster.
Whereas if you pick the MMO niche simply because you like the thought of making money, you’ll soon get bored when you realize that it takes a little while to actually start earning… And then you’ll become one of the victims of the “high turnover rate” that we discussed above.
So, don’t pick the MMO niche just because it seems like an easy choice. Instead, think about your true passions in life.
For example, do you like cycling? Hiking? Weight training? Dieting? Yoga? Technology & gadgets? Helping people overcome medical issues?
There will absolutely be another niche that you’re more passionate about if you just spend some real time thinking about it, we can almost guarantee it.
Is The MMO Niche Worth It?
If you’re truly passionate about the MMO niche & the things within it then yes, the MMO niche is most certainly worth it & as an affiliate, it can make you rich.
But if you’re just thinking about entering the make money online niche to “get rich”, then no, it’s not going to be worth it because simply put, you won’t succeed.
And we can say that confidently because if we had started within the MMO niche ourselves, we’d have almost certainly given up.
But we didn’t – instead, we picked niches that we were passionate about & then when we became truly passionate about affiliate marketing (and helping others get started), that’s when we entered the MMO niche.
There is, however, something that you should be wary of as an affiliate if you’re considering entering the MMO niche though & that is the fact that the MMO industry is literally littered with scams & bogus products.
It can be very difficult to find a legitimate MMO program with an affiliate program to promote & obviously, it comes without saying that you don’t want to find yourself promoting scams.
And that was partly the reason why we set up Commission Academy. We were fed up with the lack of genuine affiliate marketing training (that didn’t cost an arm & a leg), so we decided to put together our own free step-by-step training course.
Of course, being affiliates at heart, we also added an affiliate program to it as well… So if you do enter into the MMO niche, you know you can promote Commission Academy (& be proud of what you’re promoting).
The Bottom Line
There’s certainly lots of money to be made in the MMO niche but if you’re entering it solely for the money then, unfortunately, you likely won’t succeed.
For that reason, we’d typically always recommend that new affiliates steer clear of the MMO niche & instead, go for a niche that they’re truly passionate about.
We don’t say this because the MMO niche is too competitive. It’s far from it. We say it because you’ll have a much greater chance of success (and earn more money) by choosing a passion as a niche.
By choosing a niche you’re passionate about, you’ll enjoy what you do & you’ll be more inclined to put additional effort into building your business so you’ll reap the rewards more quickly.
So if you’re a newcomer to affiliate marketing, take our advice; avoid the MMO niche & pick a true passion.
But whatever niche you decide to go with, be sure to follow our step-by-step affiliate marketing training to make sure that you succeed.
