And is it still actually profitable? Or should you do something else instead (such as dropshipping 🤮)?

So we’ve decided to put this blog post together outlining whether or not affiliate marketing is still worth it in 2024 & just how profitable it is, along with details on the easiest way to get started.

Is Affiliate Marketing Still Worth It In 2024?

Here we go, straight in on the big question… Is affiliate marketing still worth it?

In my opinion, YES, affiliate marketing is certainly worth it – even now, in 2024 (which is over 10 years on from the date that I originally got started).

In fact, I would even probably go on to say that affiliate marketing is probably now more worth it than ever before.

Why do I say that?

Well, there are 2 main reasons really:

Firstly, there is now simply so much more opportunity. There are more affiliate programs than ever before, more people are spending online than ever before & more people are online in general (meaning that you’ve now got a much larger audience to promote things to).

And secondly, the tools & resources that you need to get started with affiliate marketing have come on leaps & bounds over the years making it easier to get started than ever before (without any experience whatsoever).

You see, when I first started out, affiliate marketing was “little-known”. Well, not quite, but certainly much less known than it is today… And this meant that the affiliate marketing training & tools available were really lacking.

I literally, with the help of Google, had to learn how to write bits of code (yes, code!) to build a website so that I could begin promoting products. It took a long time & it was certainly very frustrating.

Whereas nowadays you can simply push a few buttons & get a website live on the internet in under 30 seconds, even if you have absolutely no prior experience whatsoever… literally anyone can be successful with affiliate marketing today.

And that kind of website out of the box is already 100x better than the websites I was building ~10 years ago.

So yeah, affiliate marketing is not dead (quite the opposite) and as an affiliate marketer in 2024, it’s safe to say you have a HUGE advantage.

But There’s Another Big Reason It’s Worth It

Do you enjoy travelling? Enjoy playing golf, going shopping or just doing things on your own terms?

Do you enjoy being in control of your income & getting paid more for working harder?

Well, affiliate marketing can give you all those luxuries. Time freedom, location freedom & money freedom… For myself & Simon, it’s all been made possible thanks to affiliate marketing & we will be forever grateful because it’s completely changed our lives.

I mean, don’t get me wrong – affiliate marketing is by no means a “magical” method that’ll see you getting rich & travelling the world overnight but providing you put in the work, it’s all certainly possible.

There are no limits on the amounts that you can earn, you can work when you want & most importantly, you can work from wherever you want. It’s that flexibility alone that’s made it more than worth it for me.

Take 2019 for example, it was a year in which I attended over 20+ international music festivals (I love music!) but upon reflection, I realized that simply wouldn’t have been possible without affiliate marketing.

I mean heck, in the UK most people only get ~28 days of holiday in an entire year (out of a whole 365 days), resulting in them typically only going away on holiday once per year (if they’re lucky enough to do that).

And I’m by no means saying that to rub it in, I understand it’s difficult & I will be forever grateful that I discovered affiliate marketing but I’m simply trying to stress the fact that it’s absolutely worth it.

Though, as I mentioned above, one thing you must understand is that initially at least, it takes a lot of work & that’s one of the reasons so many people fail with affiliate marketing.

So, to rephrase my answer to the question;

Is affiliate marketing worth it? Yes, but only if you’re prepared to put in the initial work that’s required to get your business off the ground & patient enough to wait for results, even if it may seem like you’re working for nothing.

But then there’s still another big question…

Is Affiliate Marketing Still Profitable?

Absolutely. As I mentioned at the very beginning of this blog post, affiliate marketing is now actually more profitable than ever before.

And I know that can be hard to imagine as you’d think that more affiliate marketers means more competition but what people tend to forget about is the fact that there’s much more opportunity & much more online spending.

For example, there are:

• More affiliate programs
• More niche markets
• More people online
• New things getting searched for the first time every day
• Less fear about buying things online
• Easier payment processes (such as 1-click billing)
• More avenues to market via (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Websites, etc)

So yes, affiliate marketing is certainly still profitable & newcomers have exactly the same (if not greater) chances of success than those who’ve already got started.

But still, needless to say, the best time to start is as soon as you can because as the good old saying goes:

And as I say, there is absolutely no need to be put off or to feel threatened by “competition” because with having over 10 years of experience behind me, I can tell you that in reality, competition doesn’t even really exist.

There are simply SO many avenues through which you can market things online that even in the niche markets that are claimed to be the most competitive you’ll still be able to find gaps through which you can generate substantial traffic.

Will it be tougher to gain traction in those niches? No doubt, but it can certainly still be profitable.
