Amazon Associates is typically the first-choice affiliate program for many new affiliate marketers & it’s also the one we recommend getting started with first, too.
But as a new Amazon affiliate, there are likely many questions whizzing around in your mind, for example;
How much can you earn as an Amazon affiliate? Who are the top Amazon affiliate earners? And where can you see Amazon affiliate website examples?
So to help you out & put your mind at ease, we’ve decided to put this blog post together answering those questions & revealing the top Amazon affiliate earners (along with how much they earn).
Let’s dive right in then, shall we? 🙂
Who Are The Top Amazon Affiliate Earners?
Well, because Amazon doesn’t directly provide a leaderboard of affiliate earnings there’s no way to identify the “top” Amazon affiliate earners as such but because there are many Amazon affiliates that share their earnings, we can certainly make a good guess as to who some of the top Amazon affiliate earners are.
But yeah, before we go ahead & dive in, the small disclaimer here is that essentially, there may (and likely will be) Amazon affiliates earning even more than the folk that we include in the list below because, as we’ve explained before, it’s possible to earn affiliate commissions anonymously.
So there could be people making millions on Amazon as affiliates “in secret”.
But from the Amazon affiliates that we’ve found sharing their earnings, here are some of the top ones that seem to be earning the most commissions:
1. Jim Harmer
Jim Harmer is part of the team over at Income School & alongside his Income School training course, he also runs a bunch of niche affiliate websites.
(the same kind of websites that we teach you how to set up here at Commission Academy).
Jim mentioned in a recent Income School blog post that he tallied up the total Amazon affiliate income from his websites & discovered that he had earned $174,253.02 in a single year.
That works out to be around $12,271 per month.
So it’s safe to say that we’re confident Jim Harmer will be one of the top Amazon affiliate earners for sure.
2. Darren Rowse
Darren Rowse is the founder of ProBlogger & in a blog post from 2009 he shared the Amazon affiliate income he had earned from his niche sites.
It didn’t quite equate to the $174k/year earned by Jim Harmer but at a grand total of $119,725.45, it certainly didn’t come shy.
What’s important to point out here, though, is that Darren’s income wasn’t calculated over a year. Instead, he mentions that this is his total Amazon income between 2003 & 2009 but don’t let that disappoint you too much because he then goes on to state that half of it was earned between 2008 & 2009.
So that means as of 2009, Darren Rowse was earning around $65k/year from Amazon Associates & given that his last update was over 10 years ago, I imagine he is earning much, much more now which is why we’ve crowned him one of Amazon Associates top earners.
3. Chris Guthree
Chris is the owner of UpFuel & in a blog post from 2018 he showcases his Amazon affiliate earnings which equate to a grand total of $90,336.65.
Again, however, there’s a caveat. This income wasn’t generated in a single year, it was generated over the course of 2 years.
But still, I think you’ll agree that an annual affiliate income of around $45k/year from Amazon Associates alone isn’t too bad at all.
The kicker for Chris, however, is that his screenshots show that he actually generated over $1.3 million worth of sales for Amazon in total.
Those pesky Amazon Associates commission rates 😪.
4. Doug Cunnington
Doug Cunnington, the founder of an awesome site named NicheSiteProject, earned $70k from Amazon Associates with just ONE website.
More impressively, however, is that Doug managed to make $10,000 of that within 6 months of getting his very first sale on his first ever Amazon Associate site.
The site went from making $100 in 2016 to making $70,000+ in 2017. Unbelievable stuff! And the best part is that he shared how he did it in a blog post on his site.
He attributes most of the site’s success to his KGR keyword research method which admittedly is a fantastic method (and that’s why we teach it at Commission Academy).
Doug is a really smart & no doubt, one of Amazon’s top earning affiliates.
5. David & Nick
David & Nick from the Two Hour Blogger website shared their Amazon income report in 2020 & outlined that had made a total of $47,244 from Amazon Associates.
The great thing about this is that David & Nick actually attribute a lot of their success to Doug Cunnington & Jim Harmer from the list above.
That, therefore, acts as solid proof that when you follow a legitimate affiliate marketing course & take action, you can rest assured that you’ll see results.
6. Spencer Haws
Spencer Hawes published a blog post in which he shared that his Amazon affiliate site was making a grand total of $3,000 per month.
And whilst that may not initially seem like a huge amount, it’s worth noting that he achieved this figure in the site’s very first year online.
But even still, $3,000 per month equates to a total of $36,000 per year & that’s no small amount by any means, so we’re confident that Spencer is in the league of top Amazon affiliates.
He’s also the founder of a great tool named Link Whisper which we recommend in our free affiliate marketing course as well. A clever dude!
Can You Make a Full-Time Income From Amazon Associates?
Whilst carrying out some keyword research, we noticed that there were tons of people asking “can you make a full-time income from Amazon Associates?”.
So, hopefully, the list of the Amazon Associates top earners that we’ve shared above should act as proof that yes, you 100% can make a full-time income from Amazon.
In fact, you can go beyond that – you can earn hundreds of thousands per year as an Amazon affiliate.
Heck, you could even get rich as an affiliate with Amazon!
Question is, how do you do it? Well, one of the easiest ways is to simply create a niche affiliate website & that’s exactly what we teach in our training.
To help you understand how it works, let us show you a few examples of some of the top-earning Amazon affiliate websites:
Top Amazon Affiliate Website Examples
There are, of course, many different ways tat you can make money as an Amazon affiliate but one of the most popular involves building a niche website.
It’s really easy to do & our training shows you how to do it, but here are some examples so that you can get a better understanding of how they work:
1. SurePuppy.com
This niche website focuses on dog products, specifically for puppies. They promote fences/containments, training/food & accessories.
The website has an estimated affiliate income of $2,778/month with 25k monthly visitors. Not too shabby!
And as you can see from the homepage, they rank for keywords such as:
- Do ultrasonic bark control devices work?
- Mixing wet and dry dog food
And also various product reviews.
So the idea here is simple. They create content & add it to their website. The content gets discovered by search engines & listed in the search results. People click on it when they search, they visit the website & then if they buy anything through the links, the owner of the site gets paid a commission.
Simple, right?
That’s the beauty of niche affiliate websites, they’re so simple… And that’s why we use them as our core method in our affiliate marketer training.
2. AutoHomeHub.com
This is a site dedicated purely to wireless doorbells. It contains a mix of reviews, questions & how-to guides.
Some of the content includes pages such as:
- Is Ring Doorbell Waterproof?
- How to Change the Batteries in a Wireless Doorbell
Again, as you can see it’s very simple but when the search engines discover those pages & list them within their results, the owner of the website will begin making money.
What’s more is that once the content is created, the earnings are ultimately passive… And you could continue earning for many years to come.
This particular site has an estimated income of $1,185 based on the avg product price & 25k/monthly hits.
3. Wheloo.com
Whether you like the name or not, this is a prime example of a very simple, yet high-earning Amazon affiliate website in the bike niche.
The website has an estimated income of $5,100 per month from just 25k/monthly hits. That’s $60k+/year!
And following the trend of the other Amazon website examples above, this site also contains a mix of product reviews, advice & how-to guides.
The Bottom Line
As you can likely now see after taking a look at the top Amazon affiliate website examples above, earning with Amazon Associates isn’t a difficult task.
In fact, it can literally be made into a simple 4-step process;
- Choose an interest/niche
- Create content
- Attract visitors
- Generate commissions
And the best part is that the income you generate from a niche Amazon affiliate website can be completely passive once the content is created.
In fact, if you look at the blog posts published by the top Amazon affiliate earners that we listed above, many of their sites were just “side projects”.
Take Jim, for example – he earned over $100k from a site that wasn’t even his core focus.
So it’s safe to say that there’s a lot of potential with Amazon Associates & you can certainly make a full-time income as an Amazon affiliate for sure.
And if you’d like to go ahead & give it a try, then dive in with our free training.
