With all of the different forms of media available online now, such as YouTube videos, TikToks, Instagram reels & so on, you might be wondering, do people still read blogs?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And are blogs still relevant at all? Or has blogging died a death?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So to help answer those questions & clear up any doubts, we’ve put this page together to explain why blogging is actually more alive (and more profitable) than ever before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do People Still Read Blogs?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The answer to that question, since you’re reading this blog post right now, is yes, people do still read blogs in 2026 & there are actually now more people reading blogs than ever before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, I appreciate that initially, that may sound quite surprising, but take a look at how the number of internet users has increased over time below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As you can see, there are now more users online than ever before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So this means that even though there are many different types of media outlets & different forms of media, there are also many more content consumers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And blog content will always have a place because there will always be instances where a consumer wishes to consume content but cannot play audio, watch a video, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You see, what you have to remember is that written blog content does not necessarily compete with video or audio content. They all have their own target audiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, blogs are still relevant. Although admittedly, the landscape of blogging has changed quite dramatically since it very first started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You see, originally, blogs were launched as a way for people to simply keep an online diary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People could create a blog & blog about anything they liked, whether it be what they had for dinner, what they did during the day, etc…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And to be honest, you still could do that if you wanted<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, social media ended up taking over as the outlet for that type of content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead of people posting to their blogs what they had for dinner, they started to take to the likes of Facebook to post it there instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the reason for that is that on social media, people have an immediate audience (the people that they’re friends with or followed by).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whereas on a blog, you don’t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a blog, you actually have to leverage marketing techniques in order to get visitors. You have to promote your content to be found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And so this led to a shift in what people used blogs for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead of using them as simple “diaries”, people started using them as tools to get visitors from search engines (like Google) so that they could promote things online & earn money<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You see when you publish content on a blog, search engines (like Google) automatically discover it & they list it within their results as an option for people to click on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So if you published a product review of the latest lawnmower, then that post could show in the results if somebody happened to search for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And if the searcher happened to click on your page, you could earn commissions<\/a> by adding an affiliate link<\/a> to a store selling the lawnmower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If they clicked it & made a purchase, you’d get paid a commission in return<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You see, as mentioned earlier, when you publish content on a blog, search engines automatically discover it & list it within their results as an option for people to click on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
